As a year comes to an end and a new one begins there are many promises, expectations, wishes, and determinations. Everyone wishes that the New Year that is beginning is better than the previous one. God already prepared great blessings for each one of us, they are at our reach, we only need to reach out and grab a hold of them. It is very important to begin every year, every month, every week and every day having a promise, a blessing, in order to declare it with our heart.

Through Prophet Isaiah, the Lord reveals the powerful effect of spoken words by saying, “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, 
and do not return to it without watering the earth 
and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, 
but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55: 10, 11). When God gives a Word, this Word becomes a decree that takes its course at such a speed that it beats the speed of sound, and it will not rest until it has fulfilled its mission.

Something similar happens with the words that come out of our lips, they will have the angels working on our behalf. The centurion was one of the men whom the Lord praised for having tremendous faith, because even though Jesus was willing to go to his house to pray for his sick servant, he interrupted by saying, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed” (Matthew 8:8).

This centurion knew the value of the spoken word, he understood the principle of authority because he received orders and he obeyed them, and he also gave orders to his subordinates and they obeyed. What the centurion declared with his attitude towards Jesus was “You are the highest authority in the universe and, by giving the order, the angels will work to execute your command”. In the same manner, you too can declare the power in the spoken Word.

Lord Jesus said, “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them” (Mark 11:23).
